Sarai Avila Marks’ very first encounter with higher instruction was when she was a tiny boy or girl accompanying her mom Rosa to the College of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB).
“My father labored, so my mom took my three siblings and me to lessons with her,” Marks recalled. “She would notify us to sit quietly and do our research or read until finally she got out of course. I think that experience taught all of us the significance of education and learning and the need to get a diploma.”
